Portals is a unique project grown from a simple idea. Two artists and a writer come together to talk about the idea of objects and agree to meet again at an unspecified time, each with two new artworks based on objects of their own choosing. No guidelines, no further discussion. Away we go, returning with works almost uncannily connected by memory and loss, childhood and ageing, the passing of time. In the months and years that follow – as we each respond to and expand on our collaborators’ offerings – new works emerge. Resonant, sometimes surprising, but always staying true to the source. The result is a conversation in words and images that opens up the everyday to reveal realms where time and space work differently, where anything can happen.
The 60 page book - dimensions 380 x 290 x 32mm - is published in a limited edition of 12 numbered and signed copies, plus 3 artist proofs, incorporating etching, lithography, collagraphs, silkscreened text and blind-embossed cover.
